- Ric Licatta, Sustainability Advisor to Nevada Senator Harry Reid, works with students to design a Gateway to Nature Geo Center concept for Kings Beach Conference Center, (who at that time were entertaining potential redesign and refocus public use).
- Placer County honors Sustainable Tahoe with a county Resolution for our "8 Worlds of Tahoe" that interlinks responsible tourism concepts and "Washo" tribal stewardship legacy to inspire a first Tahoe basin expose: Exposition of Stewardship.
2010
- Tahoe’s first Stewardship Congress provides basin-wide collaboration to create a menu of guided fun, meaningful activities that enroll visitors as part of the solution (responsible travel).
- Washoe elders open the event with a native prayer for the water, reminding everyone to prioritize the Lake in all decisions.
- Stewardship Congress participants design the Exposition of Stewardship, which becomes "Tahoe Expo". A menu of guided activities that inspire stewardship in visitors.
- Green Networking event brings Tahoe businesses together to encourage and expand lead-by-example sustainable business models.
- Sustainable Tahoe cited as a critical leader for sustainable recreation and tourism in Tahoe Prosperity Plan (pages 56-59)
2009
- Tahoe Chamber's Geotourism Steering Committee invites Ms. Chandler to join at the request of El Dorado County Supervisor
Ms. Norma Santiago, who awards a $90,000 grant to support Geotourism Asset Mapping. $30,000 is awarded to GeoSierra LLC. Chandler and Curtis spend three months leading Geotourism workshops in El Dorado County to guide the community on how to identify and develop Geotourism assets. - Founding members: Chandler, Oliver, Dayberry, Rettig, Wendell and Hansen meet at Rettig's office in South Lake Tahoe to discuss and design a "Native to Novice" Green and Clean Water Stewardship Exposition.
2007-8
Jonathan Tourtellot, National Geographic Center Sustainable Destinations (NGCSD) Executive Director, appoints Jacquie Chandler as Tahoe’s Geotourism Liaison. Chandler proceeds to craft and deliver Geotourism presentations around the Tahoe basin, (starting with the Sierra Club) where participants score Tahoe based on the National Geographic Center for Sustainable Destinations Tourism Principles and better understand how Tahoe's tourism marketing and hosting practices contribute to tourism outcomes.
