  • Champion The Daphnia -UCDavis Floating Lake Observatory to engage and educate visitors about Lake Tahoe.
  •  Stewardship Hosting Standard for Tahoe's Short Term Rentals (STR).
  • Geotourism explained at Sierra Nevada Alliance and Green-Up Green Lodging Conference
  • Led 95 local students on an Earth Walk adventure supported by Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW).
2020
  • Pandemic is perfect time to talk an Earth Walk 
  • New Corporate donors: Microsoft Benevity and Tahoe Wellness Center keep projects moving during quarantine.
  • Our Earth Team hosts Earth Integration Day new Sierra Nevada College students
  • Earth Walk at the Sierra Alliance Conference.
2019
  • Earth Walk site moves forward with a Washoe Galis Dungal interpretive signage and Guide booklet.
  • Nevada Trails Television: interview on current campaigns, such as,​ Walk Softly; Respect Wildlife; Share Gratitude.
  • Nevada Assemblywoman Lisa Krasner, requests legislation to protect bears at six Incline Village creeks (1st Draft outlines goals).
  • Increased distribution and demand for our fundraising Gratitude Ornaments as we expand product line to include more items.
2018
  •  Earth Walk proposal Washoe Tribal Elders provide "Washo" names and are pleased to have their legacy honored.
  • Wildlife Corridor Protection establishes a community effort to teach the public the importance of wildlife to be safe in protected corridors throughout the Watershed.
2017
  • Wildlife Awareness Collaboration brings together a community effort to inform the public about local wildlife.
  • Secured a Nevada Commission On Tourism grant to construct a Washo Showcase including a Galis Dungals
    ​on Lake Tahoe's North Shore.
  • Presented Geotourism at the 2-day annual Nevada Rural Round-Up Tourism Conference in Tonopah, Nevada.
2016
  • Outlined a Geotourism Certification Course and 3-Day Workshop.
  • Jacquie Chandler, Sustainable Tahoe, is Keynote Speaker at Nevada Master Naturalist Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Certificate of Appreciation awarded from Nevada Master Naturalist Conference.
  • Created the first STR/Short-Term-Rental  Geotourism Menu . 
2015
  • Created an innovative 3-Day Geotourism workshop.
  • Created Geotourism Courses to build skills and fluency for the Hospitality Industry.
  • ​Sustainable Tahoe launches its social media FaceBook page. 
2014
  • County, State and private sponsorships enable the 2014 Tahoe Expo to demonstrate the look and feel of Stewardship Tourism: 
    • Fun, meaningful, immersive activities that "Do No Harm" were offered to the visitors. 
    • Washoe ancient skills and "fancy dances" were showcased.
    • Washoe Tribal Council co-sponsor a "Lakalelup" in bringing to light their heritage of stewardship.
    • Sustainable Tahoe secures funding from Nevada Humanities to host "Washo" presenters, including a
      "Water Blessing" by Melba Rakow.

  • El Dorado County and City of South Lake Tahoe partner to support 2013 Tahoe Geotourism Expo.
  • Geotourism / Sustainable Tourism expands to encourage responsible travel for the future of Tahoe and its Watershed. 
  • Sustainable Tahoe Tourism curriculum is debut to initiate courses as part of a Hospitality Resort Management degree.
  • Business Donors: Vapur and WaiSup are recognized. 
  • New Sustainable Tahoe and Tahoe Expo logos, marketing collateral are developed.
  • Sheri Woodsgreen, One Globe Foundation, leads Board Retreat

  • Geotourism / Sustainable Tourism App proposal: "STAN" Sustainable Travel Adventure Network
    making it easy for travelers to find fun Geotourism adventures while supporting businesses that sponsor these adventures. 
  • Tahoe Expo, a Geotourism showcase from South Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake, uses Tri-Nomics (TM) hosting model (public, private, social collaboration)
  • Sustainable Tahoe guides 50 Recreation Majors at San Jose State University to build 25 Tahoe "Geotracks"(sample adventure track).
  • Sustainable Tahoe receives 3-Geotourism Awards:
    • Tahoe Regional Planning Agency "Spirit of the Lake".
    • Tahoe Chamber of Commerce "Blue Ribbon Honorable Mention".
    • National Geographic, Sierra Nevada Conservancy, and Sierra Business Council. 
  • ORMAT begins a Corporate Sponsor of the 2012 Future of Sustainable Tahoe Tourism Showcase.

  • Ric Licatta, Sustainability Advisor to Nevada Senator Harry Reid, works with students to design a Gateway to Nature Geo Center concept for Kings Beach Conference Center, (who at that time were entertaining potential redesign and refocus public use).
  • Placer County honors Sustainable Tahoe with a county Resolution for our "8 Worlds of Tahoe" that interlinks responsible tourism concepts and "Washo" tribal stewardship legacy to inspire a first Tahoe basin expose: Exposition of Stewardship.

2010
  • Tahoe’s first Stewardship Congress provides basin-wide collaboration to create a menu of guided fun, meaningful activities that enroll visitors as part of the solution (responsible travel). 
  • Washoe elders open the event with a native prayer for the water, reminding everyone to prioritize the Lake in all decisions.
  • Stewardship Congress participants design the Exposition of Stewardship, which becomes "Tahoe Expo". A menu of guided activities that inspire stewardship in visitors.
  • Green Networking event brings Tahoe businesses together to encourage and expand lead-by-example sustainable business models.
  • Sustainable Tahoe cited as a critical leader for sustainable recreation and tourism in Tahoe Prosperity Plan (pages 56-59)

2009
  • Tahoe Chamber's Geotourism Steering Committee invites Ms. Chandler to join at the request of El Dorado County Supervisor
    ​Ms. Norma Santiago, who awards a $90,000 grant to support Geotourism Asset Mapping. $30,000 is awarded to GeoSierra LLC. Chandler and Curtis spend three months leading Geotourism workshops in El Dorado County to guide the community on how to identify and develop Geotourism assets.

  • Founding members: Chandler, Oliver, Dayberry, Rettig, Wendell and Hansen meet at Rettig's office in South Lake Tahoe to discuss and design a "Native to Novice" Green and Clean Water Stewardship Exposition.
2007-8
Jonathan Tourtellot, National Geographic Center Sustainable Destinations (NGCSD) Executive Director, appoints Jacquie Chandler as Tahoe’s Geotourism Liaison. Chandler proceeds to craft and deliver Geotourism presentations around the Tahoe basin, (starting with the Sierra Club) where participants score Tahoe based on the National Geographic Center for Sustainable Destinations Tourism Principles and better understand how Tahoe's tourism marketing and hosting practices contribute to tourism outcomes.
