NABA Butterfly Count
Calling all Butterfly Enthusiasts!
The North American Butterfly Association (NABA) Butterfly Count Program is a long-term citizen-scientist project, involving thousands of volunteers throughout North America.
Join us July 15th as we explore a 15-mile diameter count circle in South Lake Tahoe and conduct a one-day census of all butterflies sighted within that circle! Knowledgable participants will be assigned diverse sections of the circle, but others will simply focus on learning the basics and enjoying these important animals. Beginners, photographers, and butterfly enthusiasts of all ages are welcome!
For more information, contact Will at [email protected] or by phone at 775.298.0067.

Take Care Tahoe Launch
We couldn’t be more excited about our collaboration with Take Care Tahoe and its official website launch! Take Care is a collective group of more than 20 organizations that love Lake Tahoe and want to see more people connect with this beautiful natural environment. We developed this website to make it easier for you to find fun and interesting ways to learn more about Tahoe and volunteer on its behalf.
Whether you’re interested in festivals, beach cleanups, or nature walks, all of the information is on the website in one easy-to-use place. We provide the latest on environmental events and volunteer opportunities around the lake.
We believe Lake Tahoe is an environmental success story and a global role model for sustainability. We’re here to connect more people to our beautiful environment and nurture that culture of sustainability.
