We are pleased that you care about our National Treasure, Lake Tahoe and its Watershed. This unique community didn't just happen. Thousands of years, native people walked softly in nature and protected this land.

          For the last decade, countless citizens have worked hard to preserve an environment built around ecological zones and create provisions for wildlife  corridors. Lake Tahoe is unique because of this ongoing commitment to protect the vegetation, wildlife, and clarity of the Lake. Its future is being defined by how we treat the environment.

        If you have ever experienced Burning Man, Monterey Bay Aquarium or been on an African Photo Safari, you understand Destination Stewardship. At the entry point (or before arriving) you agree to follow certain protocols designed to sustain the habitat you are about to experience, which also serves to enrich your connection to the special and unique values of the place. What is amazing is how this does not take away from your sense-of-place experience, but serves to enhance it.

      Destination Stewardship is a set protocol that destination hosts agree to follow in service to the sustainable prosperity of; locals, wildlife, business and the traveler.

      As we are all Earth Travelers, it's good to remember that wherever you stand in water or on the land – something or someone lives there. Not knowing where or how to knock and enter another habitat can compromise or even kill the very thing you came to admire.
