Preparing the people who will elevate Tahoe's clarity
Learning from Tahoe’s living landscape: Sustain Tahoe field experiences and GeoTracks in action.
Tahoe invests heavily in attracting visitors and mitigating their impacts, but relatively little in training the people who influence visitor behavior between arrival and departure.
Sustain Tahoe has been evolving a Destination Stewardship 1-Yr Certification Course (over 15 years) that could be offered at UNR's Lake Tahoe campus. The program would prepare students and professionals to create a visitor economy that protects Tahoe’s natural and cultural assets, benefits local communities and transforms visitation into stewardship.
Whether you are a student, educator, tourism professional, employer, agency representative or community member, your input will help determine the most useful educational format.
